The Informatics Coalition is an initiative of the Technology Leadership Consortium, a volunteer group of leaders of technology organizations throughout Maryland, all of whom play essential roles in the evolution of the sciences of Informatics. The Economic Development organizations of Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, Frederick and Prince George’s and other counties in the region, as well as the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, have committed their support for this initiative and will play active roles along with TEDCO, our major technology councils and numerous industry groups.
Members of the Informatics Coalition are from organizations, institutions and companies across business, government and education who share an interest in Informatics and its importance in our regional economy. Our work is in four main areas:
1. Mobilize the well established Informatics research and development efforts in our universities, Federal laboratories and the industry/ contractor community, by identifying, connecting and assembling the people and organizations involved in these many diverse efforts.
2. Convene government and industry scientists and Informatics workers in groups, small and large, to share common and unique experiences and grow Informatics communities of interest throughout the region.
3. Begin workforce development discussions with key stakeholders to identify what industry and government Informatics employee’s requirements are and will be, and what our education systems can do to ensure the availability of a trained Informatics workforce.
4. Increase awareness of Maryland Informatics through integrated communications that “connects the dots” of what is happening in the region. Identify and describe the organizations, institutions and companies that are using Informatics; features real work being done here and illustrate the breadth and depth of Informatics activities, people and groups in the region.
It's easy to get involved -- just send an email to info@informaticscoalition.com and tell us the area you'd like to work on and we'll get you connected.
